DefinitiveDx: The new case sharing and discussion tool for doctors
- Reducing unnecessary secondary / tertiary care referrals
- Avoiding long waiting times for consultations
- Creating informative online out-of-hours referral / consultancy services
DefinitiveDx helping to reduce unnecessary secondary care referrals in South London.
A paediatric advisory service for Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) has been launched using DefinitiveDx. It is supported by consultant paediatrician Dr Claire Lemer from Evelina London Children’s Hospital and GP Dr Jacques Mizan from Southwark Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).
GPs from Southwark CCG can share their cases online with a panel of paediatric consultants from The Evelina London and King’s Hospitals. Cases are shared with the panel in real-time, meaning that the case sharer receives answers in real-time.
This panel would not have come together without the help of Guy’s and St Thomas’ Charity who provided the introduction into Southwark CCG and their Children and Young People’s Health Partnership initiative which has allowed the consultants’ time to be more readily available.
Working with busy teams and different departments has made this project slow to gather momentum but it’s starting to take shape.
This new approach will be shown to other CCGs and trusts with a view to expanding the available specialist panels and GPs using the service.
DefinitiveDx is free for every doctor in the world. There is no cost involved for the NHS to set up these advisory panels.
Doctors can help each other improve patient care by sharing cases online and get support on diagnosis and management.
They can share patient cases with speciality panels and their colleagues. Files can be uploaded to the cases adding extra information such as x-rays, images and patient notes. DefinitiveDx members help them diagnose and manage complex cases.
